Beryl is now a Category 1 hurricane heading towards the Caribbean

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Beryl was upgraded to a hurricane status on Saturday as it moved towards the southeast Caribbean. This prompted forecasters to issue warnings about the possibility that the hurricane could intensify into a "dangerous major hurricane" before making landfall in Barbados and the Windward Islands by late Sunday or early Monday.
 
At least 111 miles per hour of wind speed is required for a hurricane to be categorized as a significant hurricane, which is a Category 3 or higher storm. Beryl is now classified as a storm of the Category 1 hurricane category. The strongest sustained winds that Beryl was experiencing were 85 miles per hour, and she was moving westward at a pace of 20 miles per hour as of Saturday night. Beryl was located roughly 595 miles southeast of Barbados. The center of the hurricane has forecasted that the storm will rapidly intensify during the following twenty-four hours.
